Hi.

I’m trying to use the home page of my site as a brochure – constructed using DreamWeaver. I would be printing this on glossy photopaper from say, shutterfly.

The best I’ve been able to come up with is to use something like "Snagit" to capture the web page. But the resolution is obviously to low to print an 8×10. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this.

BTW – funny thing is, if I print on my cheapo Canon inkjet it looks great. For an experiment, I took it to the local drug store to print an 8×10 on the Kodak kiosk and it looked terrible!

TIA

Web requires 72ppi, or LOW resolution output. Printing is a high resolution output. You don’t have the pixels required to make a print.

You are blowing a postage stamp up to 8 x 10-inch image in order to print.

Given the high resolution in a postage stamp, it might not look too bad at 8×10 — much better than a screen capture.

Guys – the question is/was

"The best I’ve been able to come up with is to use something like "Snagit" to capture the web page. But the resolution is obviously to low to print an 8×10. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this."

I repeat,

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this? This being capture a web page and print in high res.

Get the original of the image(s) on your website, and if they are higher resolution than the website version, overlay them on the screen capture. Do the same for the text elements.

Alternatively, if the website was produced in a GUI site design program (such as Dreamweaver or GoLive) you may be able to produce a higher resolution image via that program, if you still have the website template, etc.

Hmmmm…

How about rebuilding the appearance of the web page in PS but with a much greater resolution? You could scale up the image you’ve captured from the real page as a guide to put all the components of the higher resolution layers in the correct positions to mimic the layout of the page.

Thanks to all.

I was just hoping there was a silver buller plug-in that would automagically increase resolution.

I’ll give those ideas a try.

Thanks again
