sorry maybe i should have made myself clearer
our pc have four distinct temporary partitions/volumes to minimize fragmentation over a long period of time
1) temporary internet files
2) paging file
3) scratchdisk for photoshop, illustrator, etc
4) temporary files (as pathed there by the environmental variable)
have found that after 6 months or so photoshop cs can stall on startup. at first i thought this could a number of issues
a) trying to locate a recently opened file on the network and the network machine that holds the file is turned off
b) font issue
c) corrupted preferences
but it wasnt and force formatting the partition that held the (windows general) temporary files made it work again
