Hi-

I’m running PS7 and would like to make a simple, flying text effect like at the following URL: <http://www.ralphbakshi.com>. I’m sure this is fairly easy but i’m stumped. Anyone able to help?

Thanks,

One way to do it: Type white text, rotate text about 45 degrees counter clockwise, Ctrl Enter to commit text. Add a layer style, stroke and change the color to black. Add a new layer under the text layer and make it active. Ctrl click on the text icon to select the text and fill with black. Hold down the Ctrl + Alt keys and do multiple right arrows to drag the black to the right. That sort of does it.

Well Norm. That’s interesting. I too was stuck trying to figure it out. I had no idea I was duplicating layers until about number 50. You could then make that into a smart object…

Neat.

You are welcome. Hey, everything I know, I have learned from all of the great people here on the forum plus a few books here and there.

To save the excess of layers, make a brush of the text and use the shift key to constrain painting to the vertical axis. Then rotate the whole mess to the angle you like.

I’m sure there are plenty of other ways to do this. Just imagine all those effects animators that had to do this before the advent of Photoshop.

Jim-

This is probalby more basic than you want to go, but how do you make a brush of the text?

Thanks,

Type text. Accept. Edit|Define Brush Preset.

Also check the brush settings so that there is no spacing.

Since you are confined to up/down or left/right brush movement with the SHIFT key, you will have to use a little planning on how you angle the foreground text to make your brush.
