I have used batch processing many times without to many problems (most of the time) Today I am batch processing around 500 images from 5 different source folders. The source files are PSD and the destinationS are JPEG’S.

I am using actions that I have used before just to fit, resize and save for web. I have 4 sizes to batch and have 4 separate destination folders for this.

I am finding that after the first successful batch , when I start batch no2 for size no2 using the correct action I am faced with a pop up box asking me to open a destination folder. To continue with the batch I have to use my mouse to close the box each time an image is processed.

What is happening? Please help

A shot in the dark here…

I know when one uses Save as… (.jpg) in an action invoked by Batch, Destination option "Override Action ‘save as’ commands" must be on to suppress a .jpg option dialog for each image. I don’t know if this setting has benefits when using SFW. It would be worth a shot…

Was that option on for your batch 1 and not 2?

What version of Photoshop are you using?

Thanks for the advice Danny.

I will check the settings tommorrow, whatever the setting was today it was OK for the first batch but a dialog box appeared for the other 3 sizes (I didn’t change the setting) what I do know is that with SFW the images are saved to the folder that was used in the original action (you have no choice) so I just copy and paste all the images to another folder.

You’re right: Files are saved (by batch) in the folder specified when the SFW command was recorded in the action — regardless of what folder you may specify in the batch dialog.

You didn’t mention which version of PS. That would be good to know.

To confirm, you’ve done this exact same process before and not had this problem. Correct?

Click my name above and send me an e-mail, if you would, Paul. I’d like to follow this through to resolution. That will ensure we’ll be able to communicate in case we get stalled temporarily, then come up with some more ideas.

"Save for Web" does not respect any destination commands in batched actions. The applet just takes over. Better to use "Save AS" instead, or always save to a default directory and move the files later.
