Using Windows XP Home. I tried this on 2 different .tiff, flattened photos and got the same results: I can use the Red Eye Tool on one eye of a photo and the tool works fine. If I use the tool to fix the other eye in the same photo, it doesn’t work. All it does is deposit a small dark spray somewhere else on the eye but nothing on the red eye. I reset the tool with the same results. Any suggestions?
Thank you
Andrew

Your post suggests a problem with the tool when it may be an issue of "composition". As a test, did you try to fix the "other" eye first? If it leaves the deposit, then it’s a composition issue.

I tried the tool on photos I took with my previous digital camera Canon 20D and everything worked fine, no problem. The 2 photos I tried was with my new camera Canon 5D, I had the problem. So apparently it’s not the tool.
I did try fixing the other eye first and it did leave a deposit and then went on and fixed the other eye without a problem. The problem only seems to occur on the same side of the face in both photos. I hate to appear "duh" but can you explain to me what a composition issue is.
Thank you for your time

My use of the word composition is meant to suggest that it is related to lighting, the subject, raw data, histogram-ish kinds of things. And this seems to be the case based on what you’ve just reported.

So if the issue is how to fix the red eye, there are other ways. If it’s how to get the red-eye tool to work on a compromised (for lack of a better term) image, then you may have your work cut out for you.

I’d just fix the red-eye manually and move on. <shrug>.

Like you said there are other ways to fix red eye so I’ll leave well enough alone.

Thanks again for your time
