I am in search of a tutorial on "marbelizing" technique in PhotoShop 6. Or is there a filter someone has to create this effect? "ALIEN SKIN software", hadn’t produced this effect yet. But has created a buzz for it’s developers. I am currently using: PhotoShop 6; OS: XP Professional; HP Pavillion: 1.80GHz 512MB of RAM

MacBook Pro 16” Mockups 🔥

– in 4 materials (clay versions included)

– 12 scenes

– 48 MacBook Pro 16″ mockups

– 6000 x 4500 px

Brian,

Have a look at the following; <http://www.tutorialoutpost.com/count/310> I’ve used this using different colours and patterns on different layers with differing modes and opacities.

That’s not what he’s after, T-Mike. If you would have looked at the link he provided, you would have realized that.

I can remember doing marbelized paper in graphic arts shop in 8th grade (has it been 33 years already!?!?). I also seem to remember seeing a tutorial about creating a very similar look but if memory serves me, it required a plugin.

I looked, but can’t find anything.

Painter had (has?) built in tools for it. Handy only if you have a copy of Painter, I know.

Thanks guys for your help. "Phoshor" you are exactly right on point, that is the same technique that I am referring to. I learned this back in school on paper (inlay of a wallet). Yeah this just makes us 30 years of wisdom. I am still in awe that there isn’t any software that can achieve this filter. My quest for this effect continues!

The thing is, Brian, is that I have seen computer-generated marbelizing that looked very authentic, I just can’t remember where, or what was used to create it. Something sticks in my head that it had to do with fractal generation.

It surprised me that Chris Cox never came with such a plug-in… doesn’t he like to do marbelizing too?

Yes, and it’s far easier to do in real life than to do in pixels… (and the UI for it was becoming a nightmare 😉

The link in the first post displayed a dozen types of marbling of the utmost variety. It was hard to know what was wanted. Also I thought maybe he hadn’t tried the latest version of Eye Candy Textures.

Like this:

but maybe that isn’t what he wants – who knows?

Yep, upon reconsideration, John, you and the others could be absolutely right. I made an assumption based on a quick look at the page and a forceful memory that came flooding back.

When I was remembering the marblizing we did in graphic arts shop class, the effects we all were most keen on trying to get were similar to the second picture down on the page Brian linked to. I forgot about all the other varieties.

My friends "marble" texture is a whole different method to "marbelizing" on paper. Some of you may have taken a general art class in school, the method to "marbelizing" on paper consists of 1 pan of water, some oil, food coloring or lacquer paint. The paper is either construction or treated paper with alum. After the paints been put into the water it is then raked with a wooden tool with like nails hanging from the piece of wood, creating the desired pattern, the paper is then applied on top of the paint. Carefully pulled out of the pan with the design on in. Most arts and crafts stores sell it as gift wrap. The print are also done on most fabrics such as silk. I learned how to do a "marble" texture in PS4. I really appreciate the efforts! But I know that someone out there knows someone that knows how to do this effect in PS. Just looking for a little help in achieving this effect!

How about:

1 – scan an image

2 – draw to the image using vectors (Illustrator)

3 – use this as a template into which color may be added and either exported as a rasterized image or perchance (?) a smart thingy into Photoshop?

Painter has had a marbling filter for several versions. It’s fussy to work with, but it does work very well. Try loading the Bouquet preset. It will give you the basic Peacock effect and it can be modified from there.
