Does anyone know of a tutorial on how to fill a container with liquid? I’ve devised my own means, but thus far a little shy of satisfactory.
Thanks!
Joe

Your question is unclear. Are you asking to see how one would create a container that was filled with liquid or are you asking for an animation?

Yrbk:
Sorry for being unclear. Very shabby for a communicator. What I’m doing is filling a hand cleaner dispenser with green soap. the container is a smoked translucent plastic. The soap has a green cast. I shot the soap dispenser, so I’m working with a hi-rez psd. Any help is appreciated, I continue with the experiment.

well, my first thought is to make a selection of the area to be filled. How, depends on you and the image. Then add an adjustment layer from the layers palette of a solid color, and use a blend mode like screen or multiply, depending, again, on the image.

Can you post a link to the pic (both the original and your attempt)? That could help us to see exactly what you’re going for. You can also email the PSD file to glentheman20 at hotmail dot com.

Joe,

I would try distorting the filled area a bit; I found that a lightly applied ripple filter worked nicely. I’d also blur the filled area a little as well, so that the soap looks like it has some substance. I did this by duping the original layer, and applying the effects on the duped layers, so that opacity could be adjusted.

I don’t know how much more convincing this is, but I did the distort and blur thing, and also added some bubbles.

Thanks, that may well be the final touch.

Liquid soap is not transparent – so you should not be able to see through it to the back of the container.
I suggest you select the bottom 75% of the container and fill that with solid green and then add the reflections with a paint brush.
