What procedure is best for preparing a photo for Faxing? I don’t do this often enough to justify a dedicated plug in. Thanks Robin

The answer depends on the fax machine/fax software. Until, I think, version 10, Symantec WinFax Pro only sent bitmap images. Now I think there’s an option to send dithered images – I don’t know for sure.

So the real answer is: find out what your fax software or fax machine can do, then prepare your image accordingly.

Change to Bitmap Mode at 200ppi with pattern dithering. Looks abysmal on screen but
prints and faxes well

I second Len’s suggestion. It doesn’t really matter what kind of format the fax software you re using is (assuming you aren’t printing it out to fax on a conventional fax machine) when it prints, it will be one color bitmap (not grayscale). Your best bet is the bitmap.
