I noticed recently that when I open an image in PS there is a tiny number (01) in the upper left hand corner and also a small rectangle that looks like it has a graph line running jaggedly across it. Anyone have any idea what these are, if they are standard, or if I can get rid of them and how? Thanks.

This is designed for making web graphics (Notice the Knife tool on the
tool palette, 3rd down on the right), so that you can divide
graphics into several pieces and export them as seperate graphics
(complete with HTML) in order to build a web page. If you’re not
doing that, just turn them off. Go to View/Show and uncheck "Slices".

Sandy,

That’s the SHOW SLICES feature which is turned on. To get rid of it, go to View-Show and un-check Slices.

I find that feature very annoying…I always accidentally click it and end up with the annoying box. Then, you have to click it off in two places, you must go to "View", then "Show", then turn off "Slices". Then you have to go
back and select "View" and then turn off "Extra’s".
