I can’t find a way to keep the brush spacing option selected when using basic brushes.

I have loaded the Basic Brushes.abr

On the Brushes tab | Brush tip shapes, the spacing option is deselected for all brushes. The preview has two points displayed.

When I select a brush and enable the spacing option at 25% the preview changes to a continuous wavy line. I can use the brush etc. all well and good. However, if I change to another brush the spacing is deselected, and if I return to the first brush I changed the spacing has been deselected.

I’ve tried changing the spacing option for a brush and then saving the settings but with no result.

Thanks in advance
Peat

you need to save the changes as a new brush and then name that brush and it will be added to the current brush set. If you reset preferences these brushes are lost unless they are saved outside of the Photoshop Preset folder. (I keep a brush set with only one brush in it as a "template" brush set which I save and rename not only to presets but to another drive as well.

Many thanks Christine

It was getting really irritating having to reset the brush each time.

Your solution works well.

And the "basic brushes" set all have spacing turned off.

(Why load a set with spacing turned off if you want it turned on? Why not use the default brushes?)
