Max,
Check the Type pallete and see if you’re typing in sub/superscript.

No it doesn’t say I am…anywhere. I think I know what you mean by the type pallete. No I am not, I am in Faux Bold.
The icon to the right of the "create warped text" icon, which is next to the font color indicator, on the options bar.. Click on it and take a look at the row of "Ts". If any are switched on, switch ,em off. HTH

Yeah thats what I was looking at, I am using normal text, I have never messed with any of these settings, so I assume they should be the same.
At the top right hand corner of the Type pallette you will see a right pointing triangle (under the "X"), click this, and at the bottom of the flyout you will "reset character".
When you say the text has no colour what colour is shown in the colour box? What mode is the type layer set too, normal?

Ok well the color is back to black, but its just a mangled piece of pixles, at 1000 zoom, and its only about 5 pxs large…but the layer is set to normal, and when I reset the character it just changes the size to 400.52pt and the blob is about twice the size then.
What font size is displayed on the options bar?
TMH
Just a thought, what is your image size and resolution?
TMH
That’s a pretty big font size! If you reduce it to 12 you say you cannot see the type without extreme magnification?Try opening a new document, say 500 x 200 @ 72 dpi and try typing in that. If this doesn’t work, I really don’t now what to suggest next, we have doen everything that should have restored your type settings.
TMH
umm 400×120 pxl and 1px/in resolution
wow thats weird…when I made a completely new doc and tried it, the text came out fine…I don’t know whats up with this file.
1 pixel/inch? !!!! 😉 That means your document is 400 inches wide by 120 inches deep.
That could be your problem. You need to increase your resolution to at least 72 or even higher depending on what you are going to do with the file.
TMH
Hmmm yeah I am trying that right now…that seems weird to me because I know for a fact I didn’t mess with it…so I don’t know how it got that way.
You will, you will ;-), It was your resolution to blame. Right, I’m off to bed now, it’s 12:34am so I bid you a goodnight, Max. Happy typing.

TMH
Alright thanks for the help
Max, 72 points is 1 inch. Photoshop uses the inch (or mm) dimensions of your document, based on the ppi resolution, to size fonts. If you have 1 ppi resolution, a 72 point font would be one pixel high. No wonder you were having problems!
