Am trying to make vertical and horizontal guides for use in a montage, but in spite of poring over the Photoshop 7 help, can’t make it work. Understand the principle, and have followed all the steps begore dragging, but can’t figure out which tool I should be using. Any advice welcomed.

Well yes, I would have thought so too, and I know you can MOVE them with the move tool, but when I try to draw them with it, it just moves the whole of the background, leaving transparency, which is not quite what I had in mind! I’m sure I’m making some silly mistake, but can’t think what.

Methinks maybe you don’t 🙂

Click on the ruler then drag down (or sideways) onto the image, no need for a particular tool unless you want to move them after they are created.

Finally GOT IT -knew it was simple really. My mistake was clicking inside the window. Thanks
