Hello does anyone know if its possible to add an adjustment layer to a folder? Using CS and i cant seem to do it. It seems you can do it to individual layers but not folders.

NOt sure if its called a layer set? I call it a folder within my layers pallete.

I need to colour adjust 90 layers within a folder.

I have tried to add an adjustment layer but its adjusting the whole image/or any image layers that are below this folder.

It will take a while to alter each layer, so i wanted to do a colour adjustment on the folder that contains the 90 layers.

hope this makes sense.

90 layers? Sorry for asking, but why are you using 90 layers? That seems way too many to keep track of.

Why don’t you flatten the ‘big 90’ "folder" and adjust that?

They’re layer sets

Here’s a way you could do it:

1) Hide the layers you don’t want the adjustment on
2) Create a blank layer and place it on top of the stack
3) With the new layer selected, press Alt-Ctrl-Shift-E (This should merge all the visible layers onto the new layer, leaving them intact)
4) ctrl-click on the layer to make a selection based on it’s transparency.
5) Use the selection to make a layer mask for the adjustment layer
6) Delete the merged layer

Alternatively, you could simply merge the set and use an adjustment layer with a clipping mask.

cheers Cybernetic, thats what i think i will have to do, there will be cases where the client will move the objects on the layers and i will have to do this process again…

I have tried to add an adjustment layer but its adjusting the whole image/or any image layers that are below this folder.

That’s because the layer set is set to Pass Through (default). Change it to "Normal".
