Photoshop not allowing Plug-ins??

Hi all, run photoshop cs 2 and this problem has only just begun to occur. When i open existing files all the plug-ins (both the regular and also extra) work perfectly and the program allows the use of them, however when i open a new project i cannot access any plug-ins except for blur, distort, noise, render, sharpen, stylize, video, and other. Why does this happen, its so frustrating. Any help please???

Is the new file in RGB? If not, change the settings to RGB, then check it.

Do you mean filters?

are you in cmyk or rgb mode. only in rgb mode can you use all the filters. its always been like this in Photoshop.

Also, are you in 8- or 16-bit RGB? Some filters are not available in 16-bit.

some filters does not give access in 16bit mode and also check that you are not in the mode of cmyk.

or you could just read the first two posts and create a 3rd post saying the same thing?

I do get very anoyed when people give answers to questions with out already reading the previouse posts. that coment is directed to you subhayu.

thanks guys. everythings is right now, its always something simple, how much difference does using the 16bit mode make compared with 8bit anyhow?

About 8 bits.

Seriously, 8 bit color uses 256 levels of each color (R, G and B), while 16 bit color can use up to 65536 levels of each color. That makes a massive difference in the possible number of colors. But you can’t tell the difference between colors that are that similar.

People have reported better results in certain areas using 16 bit, but I’ve done nicely with 8.
