I am using Adobe PhotoShop 7 on a Windows XP SP 2 OS. I am trying to remove an area I select from the picture, but I can’t seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried experimenting at all? Remember, if you screw up, that’s why the CTRL + Z undo shortcut is built into almost every application know to man.

Think for a second:

How do you CUT an item you have selected in any other application?

Think…think…think…

If thinking doesn’t work, you might want to consult your Help Files or PDF Manual. They’re rright there on your hard drive, as they are installed by default.

You press cut (Ctrl + X).

That will remove the selection from the photo?

Gee…could be.

Have you tried it?

What happens?

First we need to know what the hook looks like and then how do you bait it and with what. We are much further down the chain of understanding. Do the math.

Tyler: The users here can offer all sorts of (free) help and advice to other users having specific difficulties in Photoshop. For your own benefit, however, you really should get to grips with the basics.

These forums are no substitute for the Help Files provided with the program.

Once you are up to speed on the basics, you will find plenty of help here.

Hi Tyler

I am very pleased to see that I am not the only one abused in the forum.

It looks like me and you must attract a great deal of ferocity and probably generate an equal amount of fear wnd whining in some of the regular contributors.

Aren’t we great!

Deebs…

You and Tyler are two very different types of people.

You at least seem to have a fair amount of goodwill and brains backing up your sideways folderol.

Oh good – that must explain the abuse very nicely?

Deebs, we may take the Micky in a friendly way when you get to philosophising, but abuse? No!

As Phos indicated, the other person comes from a much lower stratum of the intellectual rockpile.

I think I said in an earlier post "We all love you" 🙂

Actually I’d prefer an apology (maybe Tyler would as well?) and a robust professional approach.

Geez guys, get a grip!! Life is way too short for this stuff!

And for what it’s worth newbs should really take the time to read the manuals. Basic questions like "how do I delete something" are bound to attract sarcasim. I’m not saying I agree with it, but I do admit that it is much too common in life to see this happen, either on or off forums like this one. Simple solution, educate yourself first, then ask questions…

I personally have about 15 books on Photoshop in my library, not to mention the manuals that came with every version I bought and paid for during the last 6 version releases. I love a challenge posed to me in a clear and intelligent manner, but I will ignore those questions that are obviously from a newb.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.

Give a man a million fish and it’s gonna get real stinky real quick.

But honestly, while Phos’ "Gee…could be." might easily be construed as condescending, how frikkin hard is it to open an image in Photoshop, make a selection and press Ctrl-X?

A lot easier than coming in here and asking if that is the correct answer I would wager.

The OP’s question was answered right away. The rest of the thread is a bunch of us sniping at each other because we’re bored and have nothing better to do!
