Best Printing mode for creating art for a printers

Hi,

I’m a bit new to Photoshop, I need to design some business cards and leaflets for my business, what is the best color modes to set your page as?

Currently using: CMYK 16bit 300 DPI

Are there any fonts I should keep away from? Can anyone see any problems me using Verdana and Arial?
