Time info in Metadata Wrong

I am using CS2 and have noticed that the time info in the Metadata fields are not correct. For example. A picture that I took this morning shows the following: Date Created: Today 4:13:20 am
Date File Created: 1-1-1980
Date File Modified: Today 10:13:20 am

The time shown for Date File Modified is the correct time and date. I have checked the time on my PC and the camera (Canon 10D) and both are correct. What else could be causing this problem?

If the time created is 1-1-1980, the odds are overwhelming that the problem is in the camera. Either the camera’s date wasn’t set, or there is a problem with the firmware, which may need to be updated.

Is it a raw file? are you using Camera Raw 3.2 and Bridge updated to 1.02?

Michael, the time was set in the camera, but I will check to see if there is an update for the camera firmware.

Pierre, I am shooting RAW files and using Adobe Bridge. The Version shows 1.0.1.46 and when I have it check for updates it says there are none. I guess I will check the Adobe site to find the version that you are referring to. I am also using Camera RAW but I cannot find where it shows the version number.

I did find the Bridge update and installed it. I also installed an update for Camera RAW but it looks like it mainly added support for more cameras. The dates did not change but my guess is it will only affect new files that I load.

It is also possible that the data is written in an incorrect format and photoshop cannot understand it.

The erroneous "Date File Created" value is an OS/Card Reader related issue and occurs on both platforms (PC and Mac). Short of using a 3rd party application to set the "Date File Created" to the same value as "Date Created" (date/time the image was captured) there is little you can do.

Thanks for all the replies. FYI. I sent an email to Canon support and their answer was that they do not support Photoshop. I guess I will just live with the situation.

Well, I guess you can’t expect them to support all the rare, seldom used programs like Photoshop.
