Suddenly my colors in PS have gone wacko. Skintones are reddish purple, whites are blue. It isn’t my monitor, because other programs, including Elements, display fine, and PS is messed up on all of my monitors.

I was afk for a couple of weeks and had left the computer on. When I returned, this nice surprise. I appreciate any insights!

I suspect a problem with your colour profiles

What are your colour settings in PS?

Some good reading from the FAQ’s that may help:

Since Elements is color managed too, maybe try deleting PS pref file at startup?

Graffiti, thanks for the clue, but I did read that. Adobe Gamma just has me messing with my monitor, and it’s not my monitor. I tried different white points and everything just made it worse. The change happened while i was GONE, not doing anything to the computer at all. Could my video card suddenly become incompatible?

I did delete the prefs, NTD, but to no avail.

Cybernetic Nomad, my color settings… I’ve tried changing these to other things too, but right now I have
sRGB IEC61966-2.1 for RGB.

Thanks for the ideas. Keep ’em coming! 🙂

It would help to have the complete colour settings. What are the profile mistmatch settings?

Is there a profile embedded in your images? If yes, what is it?

Ok… I still don’t know what was wrong. In my frustration, I closed CS2 and opened CS and did some work in that (really roughing it!). Well.. so then I needed something in CS2 and so I closed CS and opened CS2.

Bingo! Colors are back to wonderful! Now…. what happened??
