I have an image with two layers and a circular clipping path.

In Photoshop 8 I could edit/free transform layer 2 to any size I wanted without doing anything to the path.

In photoshop CS, when I try to resize layer 2, the edit/transform command turns into the Edit/ free transform path command ?!?!? What’s that about?

I have no wish to do anything to the path. I want to free transform the layer and leave the path as is.

Surely there is a way to do this in CS. Any ideas out there?

Thanks for any help!

Go to the paths palette and deselect the path, then do the transform.

If you want ot see hte path while doing the trasnform, press ctrl-H, start the transform and press ctrl-H again to view the path while transforming

There is no way to deselect the path on the paths pallet that I can see. The options are Duplicate path, delete path, fill path, make selectin, stroke path, clipping path, etc….. no option to deselect path. But that ctrl-H works like a charm. Without going to the paths pallet Ctrl-H deselects the path and the layer can be resized independently. Thanks a bunch! Maybe you can elaborate on how to deselect the path using the paths palate? Something I am not seeing?

Just click off that particular path, elsewhere in the path palette.
