Just read the Camera Raw/Exposure pdf and actually realized a problem I’ve been having. I’ve always suspected digital should be to the over-exposed side, but filed it away for future noodling.

Question (possibly ignorant): If I convert from CR2 to DNG rather than going to Camera Raw with the CR2, will the article still apply? I would expect so, but bow to those who have gone before me.

I feel this is still on-topic because the pdf refers to Camera Raw, but I can see where it might be better in the DNG group. But I’m here and it’s way over there……..

Converting to DNG does not change the RAW data. It compresses it and adds a bit more file information, but doesn’t change the image bits. So, ACR sees either CR2 or DNG exactly the same way.
