I am interested in getting a new, A3+ inkjet printer, to replace my old Epson Stylus 1160 (A3), and cheap little C82 (A4). I have heard generally great things about Epson R1800, R2400, Canon i9950 and HP 8750. Any advice? Does anyone have any of these? Is there visible difference between R1800’s 1.5 picolitre size droplets, and the R2400’s and Hp 8750’s 3 p.litre sizes? I mainly print colour files, but do a bit on b/w. Also, do the ink colours make any difference (light cyan and magenta for R2400 and 8750, Green and Red for i9950, and Red and Blue for R1800)?

I can only speak for the Epson models – the R2400 seems optimised for matt water colour type paper and the R1800 for traditional glossy prints – although they both do either reasonably well. If you are wanting to print B&W the R2400 is the one to go for.
