hi
How to increase or decreasethe colors in the index mode? i have an image which is in indexmode which has only 2 colors ie "white and black"
in the original image the value of the white color in one image is and the value of black color is 1. and in changed image white is 1 an black is 0. why is this happening?
these color values we get in information palette.

M,

Index colour/greyscale is 8 bit and should display 256 colours or shades of gray. If you are only seeing two colours, B&W, suggests that what you have is a 1 bit bitmap. Are you sure that this isn’t the case? HTH

M,

Have you tried to delete your prefs file, (a new one will be created) it could be screwed.
Start PS with the control+alt+shift key pressed.
