Hi All,
When I start Photoshop 7 I get a window pops up saying "Scratch Disk Preferences = The Currently Selected Scratch Disk are Almost Full" What is a Scratch Disk? How do I empty it or change??
Any help is appreciated.

Photoshop uses a folder on a disk which you chose as a place (the preferences tab contains your desired location for scratch and temporary files) for keeping temporary files. If the disk which contains the folder contains so many files or is so fragmented that the folder cannot be expanded as needed you will receive this message.

The solutions are:
1. Defragment the disk in question
2. Move the scratch area to another disk. The default location is the one which contains the operating system.

If your getting thatr error on startup something is wrong as the scratch discs should be empty. Try deleating your preferances.

George,

How many hard discs do you have? If only one, you are running out of disk space.

Thank you to all that replied. I have a 160GB hard drive with more then half free. I defrag once a week. I don’t think that is the problem. George-NY

Why not add a second HD?
That will solve your problems and serve as a nice place for some backups. William Kazak
