I had bought an older Win98 PC sometime ago and it came with an original
Photoshop 3.0 CD and serial number. I’ve gone to Adobes site and it states
clearly that "ANY" version of PS will qualify for an upgrade to CS2. I called Adobe and the girl I spoke to said with PS 3 all I needed was the serial when prompted during the upgrade to install. Also said I would probably have to call Adobe as the serial number was so old. Not sure if I trusted what I heard.
I called Adobe a second time and the rep I spoke with again reaffirmed that I can indeed do the upgrade with the Photoshop 3.0 that I have in my possession. He did search of the serial number that came with it and it is registered to someone else as I suspected. I have no idea where this person is as of today. The rep went on to say that the registration is only for purposes of tech support from Adobe and that if I needed tech support, then I would need to have the registration transfered. If I got CS2 it is unlikely I would need support for PS
3.0.
I am not the original owner of the Photoshop 3.0 software, but I did indeed
purchase it second hand. I’ve also read a few threads that hint that Adobe does not honor what they’ve stated about any version for upgrade. I’m still skeptical of what I heard from Adobe.
Also the upgrade install will be on a WinXP PC, not the original Win98 machine.
Think I stand a chance at this ? I don’t want to purchase upgrade only to find I can’t use it. Tough to return an opened package of software.
Thanks,
Mark………
