How do i stop adobe bridge from applying some automatic conversion as on thumbs/previews when it loads a folder. i disabled "use automatic adjustments" in the camera raw plugin but it still does some kind of conversion anyway. PLEASE this is driving me crazy… thanks.

What sort of conversions? I don’t use it but Bridge is just supposed to be Windows Explorer on steroids. It dosen’t matter if the thumbnail is shown in black and white or sepia, what counts is how it looks when opened in PS. Are you saying that opening a file through Bridge actually alters the original file? Disabling auto correction in the RAW plugin will not affect how the file is viewed in a "browser", disabling just allows you to take control of all the adjustments/corrections yourself.

the preview reflects how these files looked when they are openned through camera raw plugin and thats what i meant really- the conversion doesn’t happen in the bridge- it happens in camera raw- i guess. but i see the ‘problem’ before even openning the files- as if the corrections are appled somehow automatically. to clarify: raw files that where processed before, in the older camera raw (in PS CS not CS2) look completely different now and i do not understand why.

What camera are you using and are you using the latest RAW plugin for it? What does the image look like if you open the RAW file with the camera’s own software? Have you re-calibrated your monitor since installing CS2 from CS?

I think that I understand what the OP is saying, which is that when you use CS2 to browse some folder it applies corrections to the images such that, for example, you cannot easily judge an individual images worth, in terms of at least the exposure. So in other words you would like to have the browser act like a contact sheet so you can make some judgement of exposure etc.when you are in the browser, but instead the browser itself is adjusting things so that it is difficult to make those judgements.

Bruce,
Thanks for this, but I think its asking a lot of the browser, as I said I don’t use Bridge but I cannot see how judgements of this type can be made in an image so small. The image is found and diplayed in the browser and opened in PS to determine it’s possibilities. If Bridge is altering the look of the RAW image to such an extent could be due to the way it imports RAW images for viewing. I meant to ask the OP if it is only RAW images that display this problem.
