Is there any function in PS7 that is particularly effective at making scanned photocopies of pictures look more like the original pictures?

Photocopying leaves information behind. To do what you’re asking would mean putting it back in.
Where would it get the missing info from, do you suggest?

I realize this. I can get fairly good results from fairly good photocopies by playing a bit with "levels", but I wondered of there was a filter for this purpose or some other predictible procedure.

The main difference between the look of an original and a photocopy is in the "white, mid, and black" levels. I just want them to look better.
