Hi,

I have a photo that someone touched up with a smiley face type coloring over the persons face. I’m trying to remove it to get the original photo back. I’ve tried using the Move feature from the palette but when I do this I get the Could not complete your request..the layer is locked.

I’m not very good with Photoshop yet so this is beyond me but I think it should be easy to do. Anyone know how to do this? Please give me the idiot version of the directions. I think it was touched up with Paint or something basic like it. It’s a yellow blob over the face with a smiley drawn on it.

Thanks for any help.

Bob,

You could have a major restoration job on your hands, any chance of you posting the image to www.pixentral.com ?
This will depend on the level of transparency in the "smiley", are the features visible or completely obliterated?
Go to Image>Adjustment>Selective colour and select Yellow from the drop down and then play around with the sliders.
If the image is only on one layer, the background, you will get the locked layer message. To move the background layer (why though?) you need to rename it by double clicking on it and either accept the default name or pick your own.

The features are somewhat visible. What would be the purpose of posting it? Is this so you can check it out or for general consumption?

I tried the color adjustments and all it does is make the yellow lighter or darker.

Thanks

What are you trying to say? The suggestion to post was to enable an evaluation, but I’d rather you didn’t now.
