What is the current situation on image rotation with CS2 for images shot on a digital camera in jpg format?
In the previous Adobe CS edition,we had to go into Adobe file browser, select an image and apply rotation.
Now,it seems to me that all of my pics are opening correctly oriented in both Photoshop CS2 and Bridge without the neccessity of doing anything at all.
The only time I see verticals not rotated properly is if I go into a folder in Windows XP.There,I can easily click on the image and rotate clockwise or counterclockwise as neccessary while still in the folder. The pictures, thus rotated, seem to be only the thumbnail (thumbs.db) file in that folder that rotates. The pics themselves are not altered by doing this. The pictures will still open correctly in CS2 and Bridge.
Is this observation correct?
Also, thumbs rotated in a folder in Windows XP do not always seem to "hold" that rotation.
Is this observation also correct?

William,

The "rotate tall" instruction is held in the image’s EXIF data and read by CS2 to show the image in the correct orientation.
Thumbs views in WE do not read this data (ISTR) that is why you need to rotate manually and this instruction is not written back to the file.
