It is supposed to look cartoonish but have depth, and the subject is supposed to be an attractive female.

Any thoughts, suggestions, or rude remarks are very welcome. Especially rude remarks, those are usually the most honest. Flame away.

I think it’s awesome! The total feel is dreamy, the colors the house, the window patterns, great! Very nice.

The areas I might say need work are the right knee and shoulder, her lips, chin/jawline (a bit jay leno like). And I think there is too much outline on the left leg.

The shadows and lighting on the bushes are GREAT!!!!!!

lOVE,

That is really a creative idea!

As to suggestions: it looks like you cut the girl image up . . the left hand would be way too long if you imagine it connected to the wrist.

Either clip out the spaces of the window part from the girl image to bring the geometry back in line, or better yet make a mask of the whole window frame and slip the entire girl image in behind it. That would allow you to move the girl around for the best position . . . which might be with her face a little farther from the window frame.

If you are overcome by a wave of ambition, she is close enough to the window to pick up a little of the tree shadow on the side of the house too. That would help the depth you were going for.

As for the rude aspects, I could see a cartoonish tom cat on a window ledge looking into the room. That would take away the voyeuristic feeling of the image and you could call it something cute like "Peeping Tom".

The comments by Steve were so observant and informative it makes me feel that my one little criticism/question pales by comparison, but here goes anyway. If the angle of view that is apparent holds true, would not the reflection in the dressing table mirror show part of the window through which we are looking?
Just a thought…. Murphy

Ok, I thought it was really interesting and well executed. My one criticism is the neck. I know she’s stretching forward, but it still looks a little long to me.

I used photoshop all the way. the experiment was to see what could be accomplished using mostly paths and filters. most shading was done by creating a channel for each layer, giving the channel a bit of gausian blur. then i used lighting effects combined with the blurred channel to create depth in the shapes. it’s a neat little technique i picked up from a designer, and you get more control over the shading that you do with the bevel or inner shadow blending options.

The texture in the siding was created by first reproducing the shingle shapes, then creating a layer over top of it of solid color, add noise, then motion blur. then in blending options i used the saturation mode.

bushes were created with a paint brush that i layered like a bob ross painting.

the time of completion was 1 hour 15 minutes approximately. the bulk of that time was getting the paths on the girl and mirror just right.
