I just purchased a EOS 1D Mark II N and using CS and Win XP.

Apparently my version of CS does not support this camera RAW. Anyone have any thoughts on how to manage this without purchasing an update (I am licensed owner of CS) or using the Canon (or any other RAW converter. I have been using the Adobe RAW converter when I was using my 20D and basically liked the workflow when I shot in RAW.

Thanks

Did you not get a Canon RAW converter with the software that shipped with your camera. CS does support some camera RAW but not many of the newer models, you have searched the Adobe site for your camera’s RAW plugin? If not, try doing a Google for free RAW converters.

The Camera I bought is NOT supported by Adobe for version P/S CS since the camera came out AFTER the CS 2 was issued.

Either upgrade or play with some other RAW conversion.

I guess Adobe can be worse the Microsoft IMHO.

Have you looked into Digital Photo Professional? It is for Canon cameras and is available at there download site. Here’s a link to a site describing the software.

I have a Canon 1Ds and have been using this program for quite a while. It’s very powerful at allowing you to tweak the picture before it is rendered. I’ve used it to recover some shots that I thought I blew.

Now that Mike Hyndman helped make up my mind to buy CS (thanks again Mike), I still use DPP since I already have so many RAW files with recipes already made. I then export the RAW to a 16bit TIFF and then go from there.

If you cannot find the download area from Canon where this program is available, let me know. I think all you need is your camera’s serial number for a free download.

Thanks

The UPDATE is for CS 2 and I only have CS. I tried installing and it will NOT work on CS.

I also called a local Photoshop guru and they said that ADOBE will not support a previous version CS once a newer version comes out AND if a new camera came out since the newer version. Sounds like Microsoft IMHO.

Thanks

I have a current version of Canon DPP and can process BOTH my 1D Mark ll N (new purcahse) and my 20D RAW shots. I am familar with the RAW Converter in Photoshop and will now have to learn and use the DPP prior to going into Photoshop CS. It looks like Adobe is acting like MicroSoft (IMHO) when it comes to supporting a previous verison of Photoshop. If a NEW CAMERA is introduced AFTER a new addition of Photoshop, the only way you can use the Adobe RAW converter is update.

Oh Well
