I’m using Photoshop CS 8.0. I expect that when I "turn off" the eye icon next to a text layer, I can click in that area and not click on the text. I have several text layers on top of each other in the same position. Many times, when I try to click on the one that has the eye icon on, I get one that has the eye icon off, which is quite frustrating. Is there some preference to set so that hidden text layers are not clickable?

Thanks,

Nathaniel

When you click on an image in Photoshop, the click "happens" on the layer that is currently selected, regardless of the eye setting. So if you have the text tool enabled and click on your image, it will only edit existing text if there is text at that location on the currently selected layer. If you want to edit text on a different layer, you need to first select that layer before clicking.
