Can Edge Extension (in Lens Correct) be used standalone?

I love the Edge Extension feature of the Lens Correction tool in CS2, in that it allows you to make bits missing from photos appear to be there again.

I’m wondering how to achieve this if I don’t need to alter the perspective of an image?

E.g. I have a series of photos to stitch into a panorama, but one of them is missing part of a building. Edge extension would ‘fill in the blanks’ by dragging the last bit of the building in a specified direction to create a sort of brickwork brush.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Me

It doesn’t really act like edge extension though. Try rotating an image 45-degrees with Lens Correction and turn on Edge Extension (bottom-right). The effect is amazing. Out of the corner of your eye it looks like no info is missing from the blank corners. To do that with Clone would be a bit wobbly and laborious, no?
