I’m in the process of purchasing a graphics tablet to use with PS. I’ve come across hundreds of brands and models.

I’m a hobby PS user and just for photo touch up and restoration.

What brands are of the better quality(not looking to spend a fortune)?

I imagine that 4×5 would be a little small , but I don’t think 8×12 is really needed either. What would be a good size for my needs?

Does anyone know of a retailer that carries these items in stock?(rather go pick it up than order and ship)

Hi Bob
You can’t go far wrong with Wacom. I have tried one of the cheaper makes, but it felt very jerky/rough compared to the Wacom (you get what you pay for, normally!)
You will probably find that 4X5 is enough for average use, as that is the size of a rectangle marked in the centre of the pad, (which represents the screen area) and the actual size of the 4X5 tablets (and my Wacom Graphire
2) is aprox 7 X 7 ish, which I find just about right for editing pictures
with Photoshop, and it doesn’t take up to much desk space. If you want it for drawing, then one of the larger sizes might be better for you.
Most good computer shops should stock some of the smaller tablets
