Hi

By default Adobe updater looks at port 80 to install it’s updates. Does anybody know a way to change this port number?

Cheers

Why? Port 80 is used to connect to a proxy server, i.e. Adobe.

I need to get the updater to work through my firewall/proxy box which is running MS ISA Server 2000 which uses port 8080 by default (proxy is set locally though Internet Explorer). MS firewall client is in place.

I don’t think you can get the Adobe updater to look at proxy setting in Internet Explorer by default can you?

If you are using MS SBS2000 or SBS2003, this comes with an application that will allow you to setup communication with the ISA and Proxy Server. If you look on your public folder located on Client Apps, this will have the application that you need. You will need ADMIN privileges to stall application on your local box. If you have any more questions, please refer to your IT professional for further configuration.

The ISA firewall client is installed anyway, but thanks for the suggestion.
Other apps work fine for updating (sun java, Microsoft update, firefox, etc). Adobe will not.
I think Adobe need to design their updater software so it automatically uses the browser settings, and it should allow you to put in your own proxy settings if required. It’s just not flexible enough as it stands. Firefox suffered from this issue for a while, but eventually they fixed it.

Thanks

Alex
