Bad color output after upgrading to CS2

I recently got a computer upgrade to a Dual Core with 2 GB RAM, and so finally was able to upgrade from 7.0 to CS2. But as soon as I tried printing a color photo to my Epson R200, the same I’ve been using on my old computer with 7.0, the colors came out COMPLETELY differently. In fact they came out horribly.

Before, using 7.0, the prints closely matched what I saw on the monitor. Now they are much darker, the shadows are saturated and overall there is a dark red tint, like the image was burnt, or toasted. Flesh tones are a particular problem.

It should be noted that before, I tried using Color Management and had this same experience. So I turned it off and it took me a while to figure that I had to remove the color profiles from my documents to restore the outputs I had before.

After installing CS2, I had that dark red stained print, I checked the color settings, and didn’t realize that Photoshop installed with some kind of profile by default. I tried different settings again, going back to the sRGB IEC61966 profile (which seemed to produce "normal" looking images on my Epson R200 on the old computer that matched the screen)… finally saw how to turn color management off. For the documents, I did Assign Profile, choosing "Don’t color manage this document", which I am to understand removes any profile. I thought this would set things back to how I had it on my old computer, where as best as I can describe, my photos printed "normally"… but I can’t seem to get rid of that sickly dark output that in no way resembles what I see on the monitor.

Is there some other setting I’m not aware of with CS2? Some way of doing a complete reset of the color settings, a master setting clean up? I love all the new features, but I really need to get things to print normally again. I hope someone can understand what I’m experiencing here.

Thanks for the reply Dave. Though it turns out from seeing someone else’s thread with a similar problem (I can swear his wasn’t there when I posted mine) I found the solution on Ian Lyon’s site.

THANK YOU MR LYONS!!! 🙂 🙂

Arrgghh, I just can’t believe how Adobe can make getting a "normal" printout so difficult, lol.
