The font list isn’t grouped or anything, it’s sorted A-M and then it stops there, on M, then Symbol (TT). All fonts named N and above are gone. Sometimes it stops loading on MA and sometimes on MT, at one occasion it found only ONE font, the first, restarted the program and it still found only one font, i then added a new font and then it found all up to M, but it can go no longer than that.

Photoshop is unable to read from C:\Windows\Fonts. It apparently doesn’t make use of the system font folder at all. It could never find anything i put there. So for fonts to at all work in photshop, i had to copy them all to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\
and THEN photoshop found the new fonts.

I have checked all font files by opening them. No corrupt files.

Delete EVERY instance of "AdobeFntxx.lst".

Don’t delete any of the "AdobeFnt.db" files.

And fonts need to be installed, not just copied over.

There’s no option to "install" fonts anywhere. I’ve tried right-clicking them, opening them, sendto, control panel, there’s simply no option anywhere to install fonts, or i’m completely blind, because i haven’t found it, so i just copy new fonts to c:\windows\fonts and then they work in all programs, -except with photoshop that is mysteriously unable to read that folder. Photoshop requires for some crazy reason that all fonts are copied to c:\program files\common files\adobe\fonts, or it will not find ANY fonts at all except for the ones that came with photoshop and already got installed into that folder by the photoshop installer.
All fonts works perfectly in word, powerpoint and all the other programs. I’ve tried unistalling photoshop, deleted the whole fonts directory, rebooted, then installed photoshop again, and the same problem came back..

Have you tried installing fonts via the "Font" utility in the Control Panel?

Specifically, go to the control panel and start the "Fonts" utility; then go to "Files–>Install new font…" and you should be able to install the new font so that PS will recognize it.

There is definitely something wrong, Annico. When working properly, Photoshop definitely does not require fonts to be copied the Adobe fonts directory; it uses all fonts that are installed in Windows (e.g., in the c:\windows\fonts directory). Have you tried using the Fonts applet in the Windows Control Panel to make sure your fonts are properly installed? It will list all installed fonts and give you the ability to install others properly.
