Typing lettering in CS2 the print comes up with brackets for resizing

When I type lettering into a photoshop document it comes up with the brackets for resizing. This seems to happen automatically when ever I type letters now. This did not happen before. I there some switch I have triggered for this? I could set the font and size previously and I never had this problem before.

hmm… possibly on the move tool… look in the options bar for show bounding box, or something like that. (sorry i can’t check, not on my photoshop pc right now).
