When loading photoshop 4.0 Home Edition I get an error message that says uninstaller failed to initialize. May not be able to uninstall. OK/Cancel-Selected OK-program continued-Message appeared again-selected OK-Blue screen with installing components stays there even overnight-closed firewall-same problem. What am I doing wrong?

Home Edition?? Are you referring to Elements? If so, you’ll get more help by going to the Elements forum.

Bob, I think Michael is trying to install PhotoDeluxe. Photoshop Elements never had a "Home Edition," PhotoDeluxe came in a "home edition" and a "business edition."

Michael, PhotoDeluxe has been discontinued for quite some time. Even the user to user forum for it has been discontinued. You really should think about getting something else to replace it. You might want to look at Elements 4.0.

If you still want to attempt to install PhotoDeluxe, you might try installing while in safe mode. You’ll need to install from an administrator level account and be sure antivirus is disabled. You can also try copying the installation folder from the CD to your hard drive and execute the setup.exe file from there.

Should you manage to get it installed, there is a 4.0.1 patch on the Adobe support site.

Good Luck,
Bob
