Hi, I;ve just been playing with a friend’s new CS2 and I’m stumped on how to get my shape dynamics back to how they were on CS.

It always showed the brushes as tapering at the ends, which was great with my tablet as I could vary the thickness with pen pressure. I’ve been playing with the shape dynamics settings but to no avail, and the preview of the brush is still not tapered.

Has anyone got any advice?

Thankyou

Does your friend have a pressure sensitive tablet installed too? I might be wrong, but I recall that Photoshop autodetects whether such a device is present and then chooses the appropriate tools to show.

Hi Molinda,

Sounds as though you might have set the minumum size slider in the pen pressure box to a high value, and this means you would not see any difference in size when drawing with a pen on your tablet.

Set it to Zero or a lower nuber and it might sort things out for you.

As a last resort you might want to reset all the brushes to their default values by going to the brushes pallet menu and selecting "Reset Brushes".

Hope this helps.

Rollins, yeah the tablet is pressure sensitive. There’s never been an issue in CS.

Dingwall – I’ve tried both those and neither has done the trick 🙁

Just to clarify – in CS the preview of the brush was tapered at both ends. Now it’s not – in pencil or brush settings. And I tried drawing with all sorts of different pressures and no difference 🙁

Hi Molinda,

What you describe is the normal preview for a brush that has Pen Pressure switched off.

Can you post an image of the Shape Dynamics Dialog somewhere so we can see what your current settings are. It may help us to understand your problem.

Hope this helps.

Mollinda,

What tablet are you running? There is an issue with aiptec tablet drivers not supporting pressure under CS2.

Oh fabulous.

So will there be a patch or something being brought out or is it a case of dealing with it?

Molinda,

So will there be a patch or something being brought out<<

What is needed is an updated tablet driver from the tablet manufacturer.

Do search forum search on Aiptek – someone may have found a driver that works.
