It’s basically just because I don’t know IL at all, I’ve never worked with it. I’ve yet to master PS (pretty obvious) so maybe it a lil while, I’ll look into IL. Thanks for the tip though, I’ll check it out. Who knows, maybe it is much more appropriate for the type of work I need to do here.

There is some overlap between what can be done in PS and IL. However, here are some guidelines for best use:

PS: much better for any photo manipulation, more effects, ability to select regions of bitmap images for work, better tools for fixing dark images, patching and repairing images, preserves textures in images. Images intended for most video work generally import better from PS than IL, at least for non Adobe products (Xpress, etc.).

IL: much better for any logo work, better start for 3d work, any image that will be scaled, images that look like clip art with solid toned or gradient regions without any texture, images that are composed from paths that require pathfinder work (union, subtract, etc.), and objects that need to be stretched or deformed without artifact. If a simple object will be scaled in video, IL objects scale better than PS.
