I created a droplet with ImageReady which takes TIFF images of different sizes and reduces them down to within a 1600 X 1200 space and saves them in a separate folder as optimized jpgs.

What I want to do next is batch these images down to within a 320 X 240 space, adding black space to fill up the empty area around the image to fill the 320 X 240 size. I had been doing this part in Photoshop, batching the horizontal images separately from the verticals. I found that I could do both verticals and horizontals in ImageReady at the same time with only one problem. The resulting 320 X 240 images have a white (transparant?) background. I read that when increasing canvas size, whatever color you have set for your background will be the color that fills the added canvas area. I have black selected as both foreground and background colors, but the resulting image still ends up on a white canvas. Anyone know what I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
