I have to replace my C: Drive and am anticipating problems with Verification. I have heard that if you change components in your PC Photoshop & Creative Suite will lock up?

What will I have to do? What can I do to make it as painless as possible? A techie is going to do the easy bit! All the backing up and reinstall is up to me.

Thanks

Martin

If you have CS2 transfer the activation first. If you have CS, stop worrying and just do it. Adobe has built in activation counter resets to allow for just this sort of thing.

Many thanks Bob,

Life (my life) never seems to go to plan. I have CS and PSCS2. Will that make it tricky?

It shouldn’t. They’re different activation schemes. Like I said, though, make sure to transfer the activation on CS2 first.

Just a tip. Do the changes so you can restart when Adobe offices are open (pacific time). Any problems can usually be handled quickly over the phone, but they don’t answer the phone on weekends, holidays or at night.

A new harddrive should result in a 30 day grace period.

40% of the times I start CS it needs to perform a re-registration, claiming my hardware configuration has changed – it hasn’t; the machine is a single purpose, Photoshop-only machine.
Note – only 40% of the time. Otherwise, it just starts without comment.

No grace period of any sort – I need to re-register it when it asks or I can’t run it at all.

Any idea how to stop it doing *that* ?

Call Adobe, they have codes for such purposes amd will walk you through the process. Have prior serial #s handy . Same thing if you want to add PS to your own laptop as well.

Hmm, that sounds interesting – I’ll give it a try.
Thanks!

No man is an island, but if you take a bunch of dead guys and tie them together, they make a pretty good raft.
