For the past few weeks, PhotoShop CS [8] has not been allowing me to paste from the Clip Board. Normally I’d do a “Print Screen” or other “copy” function, then go in PhotoShop: File > New > OK. Then Edit > Paste.

This no longer pastes the latest Clip Board item. It will only copy and paste from windows or files already opened in PhotoShop. It’s like it has its own independent Clip Board and will only allow pasting from it.

I don’t understand, this has never happened before. All my other programs including MS Word and Illustrator does it fine, just PhotoShop has the problem. When I go to Run > clipbrd, it shows the image file is there, so why won’t it paste?

Is there a setting or something that’s causing this? Any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks-James

For what it’s worth, I’ve been having this problem for months. I don’t use any kind of clipboard manager (running WindowsXP), nor does the problem occur after changing screen resolutions. It seems to crop up after I’ve done a lot of copying/pasting in Photoshop. Suddenly, the paste option is grayed out. No error message.

I’ve checked the contents of the clipboard only to find it empty.

The weird thing is that I CAN copy and paste text into a Photoshop document after having this issue with images. But even after a successful text paste, I still can’t get images into the clipboard and pasted into Photoshop.

I’d love to get a fix for this issue. The only way I’ve found to solve it is to close Photoshop down and restart. And sometimes (this is probably related to a RAM issue) I have to reboot the computer.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

In Photoshop, is Edit > Purge… > Clipboard an option when you’re experiencing this problem? After purging the clipboard in Photoshop, you would probably then need to re-Print Screen. Let me know if that works for you – it would be easier than restarting.

But we still need to figure out what triggers this.
