When you email a file you attach a saved file to the email from a specific location.
When you work on an image in PS you are either working on a file from a specific location or creating a new file. This new file is only a temporary file (.tmp) until you save it.(to a specific location) That is why you lose your work whilst working on a new, unsaved image when either PS hangs or the PC crashes.
So in answer to your question, no you cannot attach an image file from within PS, you will do this via your email program. As to this process being considerably longer….Click, browse, click?

Thank you. You answered my question. I was used to Nikon’s Picture Project which allows you to email the edited picture before you save it.

Pete,

Happy to help, NPP must have a facility for saving on the fly prior to posting. Think about it, you open an image file, edit it and post it. Which version is sent, the original unedited one or the current, edited "unsaved" (by you) version?

The edited is sent and if I edit it again, that one will be sent too, if I choose to do so. Very convenient.

I don’t think that convenient is in the Adobe lexicon 😉
