Thanks for the replies (although no two agree!).

The zip file is only 11.8 MB. Is that really equivalent to the 71 MB updates loaded directly?

I’ll save it here at work and try it tonight at home. But I still wonder if I’m really getting the same update . . .

Definitely not. Most likely you never did an update (direct or via download) before, did you? So when updating directly (i. e. via the Photoshop Update function), you’ll get all the missing updates at once, not just the most recent one. If I recall correctly, there were four updates altogether for Photoshop CS2: the Security Update, the 9.0.1 Update, the Multiprocessor Update, and finally the 9.0.2 Update (do I miss any?).

And then there are four more updates for Camera Raw and another four for Bridge. However I don’t know if you’d also get these through the Photoshop Updater. Bridge has its own Updater so I guess Photoshop doesn’t care about those.
