Running Windows XP Pro sp/2
PhotoshopCS

I’m noticing what seems like new behavior when I try to add type to a layer. I set the font and start typing. After 2 words I hit carriage return and expect to see the cursor appear one line down and to the left since I have paragraph set to left justify.

But instead the cursor disappears and if I type, nothing happens.

What might be wrong here?

Check your leading in the Character Palette.

Are you hitting Carriage Return (just right of the alpha keys) or "Enter" (to the right of the numeric keypad)?

Each has a different function. The first will do a carriage return, the second will close the type tool.

Hope this helps

Chris.

If you aren’t familiar with the character palette settings, you could could just reset it from the fly-out menu.

Gems like what Chris passed along are why I read this news group on a daily basis. I knew that sometimes the enter key worked the way I wanted it to and sometimes it didn’t. I never new something so subtle was underfoot.
