Either your cat is possessed by the devil, or you’ve been feeding it Jim Beam instead of milk.

Have you changed its batteries recently. Perhaps you inserted an AA instead of an AAA! 🙂

Sorry to be flippant!

We’re going to need a little more info about the images and the conditions in which they were taken to be able to offer any constructive assistance.

Is there any chance you could post a couple of images for us to see the problem.

Use <http://www.pixentral.com> It’s the cat’s whiskers! 😉

Probably the quickest way is to clone the natural eyes on to the glowing sockets.

Ah I can see the problem now. The cat’s been watching too much television!

John’s right about cloning some good eyes from another pic.

Here is a quick eye transplant.

The problem, as you rightly stated, the the cat equivalent of red-eye.

The answer lies in your camera technique rather than in Photoshop.

Red eye (or fluorescent green eye) occurs when the light from your flash unit is reflected off the back of the eye.

To prevent this, remove the flash gun from the camera’s hot shoe and, using a long sync cable, hold it at arm’s length but still pointing down at the cat. The result will look more natural and it is impossible to get red eye!

Purrrfect!

Sorry Gary. We are using the word "clone" in its generic sense here. Searching the Help files for "clone" (or Googling for it) will bring you information about Photoshop’s "Stamp" tool, often referred to as the Clone tool.

For your cat pic, I did a quick search on Google Images for "Cat’s Eyes" and found one which was suitable. In other words the same basic shape as your cat’s eyes.

I used the lasso tool to select the new eye and applied a 2 pixel feather to soften the edge. Then I jumped the eye to a new layer (Ctrl+J), then dragged it over to your cat pic.

Ctrl+T gave me the transform bounding box and, holding Shift to maintain the proportions, I scaled the new eye to fit exactly over the original. A quick brush around the edge with a soft eraser tidied it up.

Because the Google Cat only had one eye, I duplicated this newly implanted eye layer and flipped it horizontally before dragging it across to cover the second eye.

Sounds complicated, but it actually took less time to do than to write about it!

Of course you will want the eyes to be authentic, so search through you collection of moggy shots to find a pair of his/her own eyes to use.

If you unfamiliar with the techniques described above, look them up in the help files. Learning by doing is by far the best way, and you’ve got a ready-made project here. 😉

Best of luck with it.

Chris.

I also ran into this problem. Redeye tool is great for people, but if you shoot animals, Photoshop does not have a good solution. You have to to clone another eye or create one.

I also use Corel Paint Shop Pro and it has a great tool for this application. Under redeye, you can select animial eye, select iris color and size, pupil size, glint amount. My suggestion is if you are not on too tight a budget, get Paint shop pro also. I was a bit surprised when I bought Photoshop that it had no tool for this.
