When you duplicate a layer group all layers in that group will have "copy" amended to them. This is extremely frustrating especially when duplicating more of the same layer group! This was not performed in previous versions of photoshop; is there a way on how to prevent photoshop from amending "copy" to layers after duplicating layer groups? I waste so much time sometimes having to manually remove this to keep everything organized; I use photoshop to create web site interfaces, etc… so layers must be organized and properly named. Can anyone help?

Nope, no way to stop it, but it’d be pretty easy to write a script that duplicated a layer with the "copy #" and then bind the script to a keyboard shortcut. Or, even more useful would be a script that simply stripped all occurences of "copy #" (or any user-defined text) from layer names–sort of like a search and replace for layer names in a PSD.

Ah, what the heck, here’s an (very) early beta of a Layer Name Search & Replace script that I just whipped up for you:

Currently it only removes "copy ####" from the layer names, but when I have time, I’ll turn this into a full-fledged Search and Replace tool for renaming layers.

Post #1 of 2 should have read:
