Does CS2 offer a simple procedure for surrounding an image in a border? I have looked in quite a few locations and cannot find a reference to this capability. I realize that a layer can be added and resized to be larger than the image, but wondered if there is an automatic procedure to do this.

A border can mean many things…

You can select all then edit stroke to create a simple border, or you can use one of the actions supplied with Photoshop to create a frame (like a picture frame).

Then there are about 10 other things you can do, depending on what you’re after.

If the above doesn’t help, try to be more specific.

If you just want a border, then set your background colour to the desired colour and expand the cancas by twice the required width of the border.

There is also a Frames action set (actions>Load Actions and browse the Photoshop Actions folder) which will create any one of 15 different frame types.
