I had a lockup when trying to crop a large image. After rebooting the 6 GB available on the "scratch partition" went down to less than 3 GB available. I ran chkdsk on the part but did not find lost clusters. Win2000 op system. Anyone know where I can look to delete a 2 GB scratch file? Thanks in advance –

6 GB available on the "scratch partition"

6GB is not a lot of scratch space, especially if you work on fairly large layered files. If possible, up it to between 20 and 20GB, or provide an overflow on another disk (set this up in Preferences). Also make sure the HD is regularly defragmented.
